Overdentures (Implant-retained)

Implant-retained overdentures are a simple and cost-effective option for many patients.

There are 3 main options to retain implant-supported overdentures:

  • Ball attachments – traditionally used in the mandible with two implants placed in the canine region
  • Bar abutments – these can be either rigid (multiple implants) or resilient (two implants)

Resilient-designed overdentures are most often limited to the mandible, implant-retained and tissue-borne.

In the maxilla, bar-retained overdentures are normally used in design and implant-retained and implant-borne.

  • Locator abutments
